Very busy on a Sunday about 11 and a bit chaotic. Took a while for food and drinks to appear. But nice when they did arrive.
Sure the bread here is good enough (if way overpriced) but the queues are unacceptable, possibly due to hardworking but inexperienced staff. Staff dont appear to be fully trained on the till and the caf, at busy times, is understaffed. Plenty of competition in town not to bother with this place unless you have to.
Love this bakery for afternoon coffee and the variety of pastries and bread - even some German (!) bread :-)
The coffee, when they make it well, is delicious. My big disappointment is the cafe's hygiene, or lack of it. We've been there many times and each time the tables are dirty, with cups and plates after previous customers. The staff rarely pays attention and you need to ask them to have the table cleaned. The toilet - today, yet again, no paper, no soap and no paper towels. I think even the coffee is not going to lure back into this messy cafe.
I refuse to go here now. Staff can be temperamental and on occasion you can leave having an unpleasant taste in your mouth....Coffees are not good -far better coffees available in other nearby cafes. Carrot cake, cheesecake and breakfast was excellent. I say was as sometimes certain items are not available. It had potential but prefer to give it a miss now as far better choices available on the high street. Gails was known as a baker and perhaps they should stick to this
