Visited on a Saturday lunchtime with family of 4 and a baby. The location in Richmond is good, close to the river, reasonably central.The food was enjoyable, but nothing special. We had a mixture of food and the burger I had was one of the best vegetarian burgers I have had for a while.The restaurant was very busy, couldn't book a table of 5 but could get the 4 of us in. The restaurant is not level. There are steps to get in, and to reach other parts of the restaurant there are steps down. The toilet is down a flight of stairs and the only baby changing facilities we found were in the ladies toilets in one of the cubicles but unlabelled.The service was good initially but tailed off and took along time to get the bill.The 12.5% service charge felt excessive, when it wasn't great and the accessibility issues reduced our enjoyment.
We didn't plan where to go for breakfast, but when I saw that in Richmond there is a Bill's I straight went in! It's (was) my fianc birthday and I wanted to treat him with a delicious breakfast. I got eggs royal (photo) and he got Bill's brunch! We had a lovely time even if was really busy the staff was friendly and helpful. The only surprise was the service (12.5%) add to the bill but I was going to leave tip anyway! Definitely going back.
What can I say. It's a Bills. Nice brunch/breakfast options. Definitely a choice for everyone. Good service and a nice location. Decor is cute and seats are comfy. Works for families and staff are great with kids. It's a good meeting, however it can get pretty packed if you don't get in early. Sometimes worth booking, which is easy enough online. Not the best coffee, but serviceable. Bills Breakfast and the Garden plate are tasty, as are the pancakes.
After a previous disappointing experience, we went to Bills for dinner in January and had a lovely evening. The food and drinks were fantastic (we particularly liked the fish pie and ribs) and the service excellent. Thank you to the server Claudia Schif who was polite, friendly and efficient.
Obviously a bad day at Bills today despite the fact it didn't seem particularly busy. The male waiter provided the worst service we've had since being in the UK. Exceptionally slow at taking orders, told us he'd bring water and never did. Told us he'd bring ketchup and never did. Kept walking around the dining room but never actually doing anything like clear empty plates or bring new water bottles. Food was good and we enjoyed that. Front of house definitely letting the kitchen down today. The final insult was a compulsory 12.5% service fee, for no service. When I mentioned on paying that we were disappointed with his service hours only response was that he doesn't see any of the service fee anyway and that the "company takes everything". Not a good experience today guys.
