I was thinking of joining Cedars as it is very near my house. Few weeks ago I went there with a friend who is member of the Cedar club. The changing rooms are so far away from the pool and the corridors were so cold. In the changing room there is a loud disco type music playing which was so unrelaxing. There were 2 members at the changing room who also were annoyed with the music. They said they had complained about it few times but the staff said the hotel manager told them the music should be played. The treadmills are facing the walls with a screen in front it and if you don't like to watch the screen you should keep looking at the wall. I decided not to join and the 2 members who find that loud disco music in the changing room very distressing said they are thinking to cancel their membership. It is a shame because otherwise it is a nice looking club and nearby.
Always late for the opening, no clocks in the gym is super boring when you have to watch the time. There is no water in the gym, you have to run in the halls for that. I do not know ... be logical !! In the halls it's cold! Perfect to get sick. They are pouted at the reception and I still could not see a coach to help me when she was supposed to call me. Full of detail makes the service shabby.
The hotel has a warm welcome and it is nicely decorated. It looked nice and festive. The staff were friendly and helpful. We went for a wedding and stayed overnight. The room was very small and the heating was inadequate. The windows were old and brought in draft. The shower did not have hot water. So mixed feelings about our stay there.
You would not think you were in a hotel bar. The staff are very attentive to all (including the casual drinker), the cocktails are very good, and the wine list is superb. Hats off, a fine establishment just where you need one.
The restaurant is stunning. The service is amazing and the food is simply delicious. The staff were so attentive and created a formal but such a relaxed atmosphere! The dining experience is a welcome addition to Richmond and I am looking forward to my next booking at The Gate.
